    ecco l'articolo

    It will be devastating!

Prison Break's Wenty and Sarah: Prepare for someone to meet a sticky end

Here's a question: How many times have you actually seen Sara and Michael Schofield together? Sure, there were those scenes in her doctor's rooms at the prison. Those looks he gave her as she administered his injections and tried to avoid falling into the smouldering depths of his eyes until she couldn't help herself any longer. But have you actually seen them in each other's arms? Have they shared more than the odd kiss, snatched amid the stress and tension that have become their lives? No. It doesn't matter.

The pull of the chemistry between Prison Break's Sara Tancredi and Michael Schofield is so strong that they don't have to be together to be one of the hottest couples on the small screen. And when they're apart you just know they're thinking of each other, even while she battles her drug demons and dodgy FBI agents in rehab and he tries desperately to stay one step ahead of his enemies.

The second season of the hit TV drama started on SABC3 recently and has been keeping fans hooked - and as M-Net viewers will tell you there's plenty of drama to come for Sara and Michael. Season four has just started on the pay channel so keep away your friends with decoders if you don't want to find out what goes down. But brace yourselves: there's horrifying stuff ahead. "Michael and Sara have a real connection forged in extreme circumstances but they have more obstacles between them now than they ever did." says Wentworth Miller, who plays Michael. "And the way this season ends is pretty devastating, especially for one of us".

Suffice to say that stare of Michael 's goes from brooding to downright menacing after he receives something that makes the Godfather's horse-head-in-a-bed scene seem tame. "The stakes are high and the body count even higher/" Wenty warns. Meanwhile M-Net viewers are bracing themselves for a grand finale - season four is the last in the series. "We know Prison Break has a huge following but how much further creatively speaking can you stretch a story?" says Matt Olmstead, the show's executive producer. But all is not lost. There's talk of a Prison Break movie starring Wenty and Dominic Purcell (who plays his on-screen brother, Lincoln). There's also a TV spinoff in the works set in a female jail, tentatively titled Prison Break:Cherry Hill.

Wentworth (37) doesn't seem too fazed by the end of the show that was his life for the past four years. He's ready to spread his wings, maybe do a romantic comedy - this might be the break he needs. And hey, after all these years of sporting a buzz cut he can finally look forward to growing his hair. "We'll see," he says. "I kind of like it this short. It's pretty low maintenance." Since soaring to fame with Prison Break he's been a regular on hot hunks lists and was voted one of People magazine's 50 Most Beautiful People in 2007. He was also voted the magazine's Sexiest Deep Thinker that year, thanks to a degree from Princeton University and a face that just screams he's bright. Wenty laughs it off though. "It is a bit strange, this sex symbol stuff," he says. "The fact is I've looked the same for the past 10 years. People go on about my 'brooding look' but usually I'm just squinting because my eyes are so sensitive."

Oh, be quiet, Wenty. You're ruining it.

Sarah Wayne Callies (32) who plays Sara, also got on a list: she was voted men's magazine Maxim's Hottest Woman of Autumn last year - but the mom of one doesn't believe she's anywhere near her co-star's league. "Wentworth is gorgeous," she says. "And that stare of his - you come around a corner and wham! It just hits you. Actually, I am a bit tired of being overshadowed by it. I keep telling everyone he has brown eyes and they're just contacts. I'm trying to start the rumour he has totally plain eyes but no one believes me. I tell people I'm hired as the brains of the operation because this guy has the beauty locked down."

Yet Sarah clearly has what it takes to be the only longstanding female member of the cast. "There is a lot of testosterone around," she says. "There are some great women who come as guest stars but the powers-that-be seem unable to commit to them. I'm the only woman they've stuck with." And the show has helped put her on the map. She was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, the daughter of two university professors and was something of a swot too. She studied feminist studies and indigenous theology at university before going on to do a graduate degree in drama. She moved to New York where roles in TV shows such as Law&Order, Dragnet and Numb3rs followed. Then Prison Break came along and led to a big screen career too - she starred in the drama Bittersweet last year and the 2007 thriller Whisper opposite Lost's Josh Holloway.

Sarah lives near LA with her husband, Josh Winterhalt, a martial arts teacher she met at university, and their daughter, Keala (18 months). She manages to juggle motherhood and her careerwell, she says. "Hollywood has changed. No one makes you choose between your job and your family. You really can have it all if you want it."

And what about bachelor boy Wenty? He has said that he'd love a wife and kids but he was "married to Prison Break" as he has put it, and didn't have the time. "But if you are looking for a sign I'm in love it's when I suddenly start whipping up meals," he says. "For me to cook has to mean I am really into her. I'm actually afraid of the kitchen - especially when the stove's on." Wentworth has no shortage of female fans. Mail arrives by the bag full - some of it from inmates - but the letters often leave him feeling guilty. "I'll sometimes get these 10-page letters from women pouring their hearts out and I have time to answer with only, 'Dear So and So, be good.WM'. It's just never enough.

But his biggest fan, he confesses sheepishly, is his mom. "She loves sending me notes. She likes to stroke my ego and keep me happy." Roxann Miller didn't come up with his name; he inherited it from his dad's side of the family. His real name is Wentworth Earl Miller III, which means he comes from a long line of Wentys. "The name is courtesy of my great-grandmother," he says. "She picked it out of a Jane Austen novel: Captain Wentworth in Persuasion." Bet he was nowhere near as nice as our Wenty.
